They completely outplayed us that night which I wasn't expecting as we'd done quite well against them in the away leg. I can't remember the score. I thought that night that I had witnessed a new order in Europe emerging but it never happened.

We lost but watching Celta Vigo in the inter-toto ( I think) at the Hawthorns. They were tremendous to watch and in patticular had two Russians playing for them, Mostovoi and Karpin who we could not get near. I'm sure there was a good reason for playing at WBA but I've forgotten why.Ginola and Alpay were also introduced to the crowd that night.

Whilst it was being removed we played at West Brom.
Spartak may have narrowly beaten us with a last gasp goal that night but they passed us off the park. I was twelve and was blown away by the skill they showed.
Seem to remember laughing at the Home game against NK Varteks. They had a fat striker with white boots, who looked like Ginola.Anyway, he scored a hat trick against us.
