One of the few from recent memory was a 2-3 defeat at The Etihad.

I'd gone down with a few mates who were all Citeh fans and was absolutely dreading it - especially as I was sat in the home end - and had been confidently predicting 0-4 or 0-5 before the game. My predictions looked spot but I was amazed when we pulled a two goal deficit back courtesy of Carlos Sanchez and Tom Cleverly only for fecking Fernandinho to win in it the 93rd minute.

To listen to me after the game you would have thought it was us who had got the last minute winner!

This.

Easily the greatest side I've ever seen play, and by a massive distance.

Spartak Moscow were better, or certainly played better on the night.

Two things of note.

1:54 - A lovely little shuffle from Sid who seconds later appears from nowhere in the box to score.

3:08 - a truly exquisite pass from Platini for their second and a top clash finish for Boniek, I could watch something like that on loop for hours and still not get bored.

Shame they don't include Ken McNaught's mysteriously disallowed 'goal'.

They completely outplayed us that night which I wasn't expecting as we'd done quite well against them in the away leg.  I can't remember the score.  I thought that night that I had witnessed a new order in Europe emerging but it never happened.

We drew 2-2 away and lost 1-2 at home.

Spartak may have narrowly beaten us with a last gasp goal that night but they passed us off the park. I was twelve and was blown away by the skill they showed.

Both European nights great occasions. It's weird I remember those games more than my first match which was against Liverpool and we lost.  But I have no idea when!

Liverpool in the cup in 2002.

Just before xmas and didn't kick off until 9pm due to huge queues for ticket collection. It was a really good game aswell, think we lost 3-4 after extra time.

This was the one I was going to post too. I was in the Trinity when we were fighting back and my goodness it shook beneath our feet, such was the joy at scoring. It didn't feel like a loss at all to me.

European game against Celta Vigo played at the Hawthorns was a good laugh. Referee didn’t seem to know any of the rules and even blew up for full time with 85 minutes played.
God knows, have a feeling that Benni McCarthy scored for them.

Players kept being sent off seemingly at random, often when they were the ones that were fouled.

Never seen that game, is it on youtube?

I remember that game for Steve Stone being kicked in the head on the touchline right infront of me, blood everywhere
