Fond Memories of Games We Have Lost

Shamelessly stolen from Owlstalk after being directed to there this week. What games do you hold dear despite the wrong result. Mine would be the 4-3 v Newcastle in 96/97. Dwight Yorke was unstoppable that day. I imagine Arsenal 2 Villa 0 in 1981 will get a lot of love here as well.

Not for the scoreline but a cracking atmosphere and plenty happening on the pitch.

Villa 2 Liverpool 4 in 1982 - 3 down in no time, back to 2-3 at half time, battered their goal in the 2nd half before a late Ian Rush goal ended our comeback - but a great game from what I recall.
We technically beat Athletico Madrid on the night (2-1) but lost on away goals in 1998 - but what an occasion.

1971 League Cup Final.
Steve Bastard Perryman and Martin Bastard Chivers left a 13 year old kid in tears but I was so proud to be a Villa fan at Wembley.
