I'm pleased with Wessels joining WCCC. Good experience as long as he finds that consistency. Good in all formats of the game too if I recall.  Need another bowler now.
He is a decent player but do you wanna be giving out 3 year deals to 33 year olds.

A bit more news from Edgbaston this morning with Aaron Thomason signing 2 year deal to keep the 21 year old here till end of 2020 season
plus 27 year old keeper Alex Mellor signing till at least the end of next season. I imagine will be looking closely at Alex over next 12 months
as Tim Ambrose can't go on forever.
I daresay Mellor may play some more white ball cricket next season.

When we played Kent last week there was quite an emotional moment for old members such as myself, when on the first day Kent asst.coach Allan
Donald came round to City end to talk to Matt Henry....because of the weather a large crowd had gathered....i'll let Allan take up the story:

https://warwickshireccc.com/news/donald-bond-with-the-bears-is-very-special/

It was a great few moments in time which gave me a short opportunity to give thanks to a great servant of 13 years to the bears. A wonderful moment
and at the time i tweeted to the club that he is and will always be Bears royalty, i wonder if that's why 'royalty' quote mentioned in the article.

A very humble man.....one of my favourites of all time.

Personally speaking, one of my favourite sights in sport was seeing him charging in to bowl and I feel fortunate to have seen him play as often as I did.  Had the great combination for a sportsman of being a fierce competitor on the field and a genuinely nice guy off it.  The twenty or so minutes I spent transfixed to the TV with my brother and Dad as he battled it out with Mike Atherton at Trent Bridge will live long in the memory.

They have a tendency to do that don't they.  Alex Gidman turned out to be hopeless, hopefully Wessels, who is currently 32 but probably turns 33 before we kick off again should hopefully be a better bet.  With Mitchell, Fell, Ferguson and Wessels, we have a decent batting line up.

When do 2019 fixtures get released?  Seem to recall they are not long after the season finishes?

Hope it’s soon, I need to find out if a membership will be worth it before the price increases.

Was it a good decision to release Barker in light of Stone and Woakes likely to be on extended England duty??

Nothing wrong with being a Bears feeder club, mate.

We have signed two bowlers anyway so we should be ok. Time will tell.

I think Trott leaves a bigger hole to fill than either Wright or Barker.

No sign of the fixtures yet but i know that the One Day Cup is starting in April (18th) and that will be completed before the
World Cup starts on May 30th. So i take that to mean there won't be so much County Championship cricket in April next season.

All our matches are being played at a time to make them as inconvenient as possible for anyone who has a job to attend.

They haven't been announced yet, but they will be.
