Hain has 7 centuries and an average of 63 from 31 list A matches.

I think that's a record globally after that many matches.

I think Hain has to be in the thoughts of the selectors.  Even though the ODI team is doing brilliantly I don't think they can ignore him if he keeps playing this well. I don't think that necessarily means him being in the team but I'd certainyl think they'll get him with the squad for a while, it would be madness not to.

A lot can change in a year, but I think the top six of Roy / Hales, Bairstow, Root, Morgan, Buttler and Stokes is pretty much set in stone.  Were Hain to be considered I think it would have to be as an opener or at three as he doesn't really have the explosiveness of those at 4-6.

I like Hain he’s a decent player and has some record given his relative youth. He very much reminds me of Jonathan Trott, a solid nurdler and accumulater rather than an explosive player in the mould of Roy, Hales and Buttler.

For this reason I think his opportunities at International level may be restricted. We’ve moved away from a player anchoring the innings to the kind of player who can take the game away from an opponent within 5 overs. Whichever performance you prefer, and I like to see a solid innings built around proper cricket shots, the current formula is working and I don’t think they will change it.

I'm not sure, he ticks along at a run a ball and has a list A strike rate that's about on a par with Root and Morgan. He also scores a similar share of his runs from Boundaries to Root so it's not like we don't have a player like him as a cornerstone of the side. For me he'd be the obvious option in th county circuit as cover at 3 and 4 right now.
