2 becomes 3.

Top order failing again.  They might go on to have a fantastic summer and I know Bell got some runs in the first game, but him and Trott really haven't been performing consistently for some time in the four day stuff (or Hain for that matter) .

Trott and Bell have carried on from last year....very poor. I'd play Ed Pollock.

After the months of wet weather I'd guess that most of the cricket strips are a bit inconsistent and lively, I had a look at the pitch of my club last night before our opening game tomorrow and I wouldn't want to bat on it.

Good recovery from the Bears.  Hopefully can push on now and build a good lead.

209-5 for the bears. Great knock from Hain who made 85. Decent lead now and given the commentators were calling it a 250ish pitch this is a pretty good display all told.

314-8 now, that's a massive lead, this has been a really good performance.

410-9 now, Brookes got to 50 and has decided to have a slog, fairplay to him, 18 years old, got his first wicket and first 50 and now he's played a big part in pushing the lead over 250.

finished 413 all out with Brookes ending up on 70.  10 overs for them tonight so we could easily pick up 1-2 before the end of play.

Comprehensive win for the Bears, as many matches should be in Division 2.

Ryan Sidebottom with 10 wickets in the match. Hopefully with him and Olly Stone (when fit), we should be able to blow away a lot of the batting line ups we face.

I'm pleased for Brookes as well, 3 wickets and a very good knock with the bat, got to be happy with that from an 18 year old. It sounds like he's quick an bowled a good line as well so he's go the makings of a very good player I suspect.

Yet another batting failure for the Pears - wonder what the record is at the end of season for most bowling bonus points and least batting points :-)

We are carrying players Gareth. Dolly and Rhodes for starters. Bloody rubbish.
