I'd agree with that.  I think if we hadn't lost overs last night we'd be around 400 now which I think they'd have taken as a sufficient buffer but Now I expect we'll bat for another 10-15 overs and make it impossible for them to catch us. (even if we didn't score a run 13 overs would mean they needed 7 an over)

Not Bears related, but was speaking to someone who was saying there are going to be pretty radical changes to the Birmingham League structure as of next season.  It is going to go down from four to two leagues with the teams in the bottom two leagues and all the teams in the second team leagues going down into their local divisions (Warks, Staffs, Worcs and Shrops).

Probably means as many as 20 or more teams going down into each of those local divisions and I'm guessing a bit of a headache of how to incorporate them all.
Yes it will affect my club...just don't know the details yet. We only play in the lower reaches of the Warwickshire League Divisions 8 & 10 West although our 2nds did
gain promotion. We have our AGM this Sunday so i may find out a little more from our Secretary.
As you have reminded me i will ensure it's an agenda item.

It will affect all three teams at our club, with the likelihood of all three being pushed down a division or maybe even two.  I've heard that the Birmingham League first teams are going into the top division, with only four of the sides currently in that league remaining in it.  I'm just not sure where the Birmingham League second XI teams will come in as that will be more difficult I would have thought.

Must be considering declaring soon, particularly now Hain has his 50.

I think the mindset of Sussex is quite apparent in this match. This season Ben Brown has kept wicket for every ball this season
but after lunch he has given up the gloves and handed them to Burgess and now Olly Robinson is brought back into the attack
bowling off spin.

297/2. Declaration in the air as Bears players appearing on balcony back in their whites.

Not sure why we didn't declare four or five overs ago. Run rate required over eight, we aren't going to lose.

Looks like batting through with a lead now of 412.
Not surprised...keep bowlers fit and well for a big game on Tuesday, a game that we may be without our star bat, Ian Bell.
I haven't heard any news on X-Ray that he went for earlier.

Pointless from the Bears. Promotion is a bit of an anticlimax, now. Can't believe we haven't even tried to win the game.

324/2

I'm bored now going to pub to celebrate promotion. Well that's my excuse.

Goodday all.

Hope you're right. Putting ourselves in a position where we might need a win, in late September in England, seems like we might have blown our advantage.

Still, we will be promoted if we get more bonus points than them and the game is a draw.

Assume Sky will be showing our game?
