There's the 3rd bowling point and the innings. Just shy of 100 for the lead. Bat out the day and up to Lunch tomorrow and you're looking at a 300+ target if we want to try for the win, if we just want to guarantee promotion we just bat out.

Decent first innings lead, even though it looked like it would be a lot more at one point.  Need to bat well up to the close of play now and early tomorrow and see from there.

5 overs gone in Bears 2nd innings, a steady start after 5 overs:
24/0
Sibley 5
Rhodes 18
Introduction of spin in only the 6th over. Could be start of a long spell for Danny Briggs.

Can't see us winning now. We won't declare where there is even a 2% chance of them chasing it down.

We should be level on points with Kent moving into the final match against them. They'll be above us by virtue of having won more matches. So the winner wins the league. If it's a draw or a tie, whoever gets more bonus points wins. If it's a draw or a tie and we get the same number of bonus points, Kent win it the title.

55/0 14 overs
Rhodes 42,
Sibley 11

148 lead
Personally i don't mind not winning this game or the title. The clubs main aim was to get promotion and avoid defeat by batting and batting long achieves
that goal. Take Kent game as a cup final and winner takes all.

Depends how we go today really.  55 from 14.4 doesn't suggest we're going to be timid so a lead of 250+ by the end of play is likely. Add another 100 tomorrow morning and you'd be fairly confident they won't chase 350 in 2 sessions and if they try it gives us more chance of taking the 10 wickets.Once we're 250-300 up I'd be tempted to tell them to start slogging and push it as high as possible though. I'd want 2 sessions to bowl them though because they have a decent middle and lower order.

I'd also agree with that, winning the championship would be nice and, in truth, this game doesn't really change much in regards to our chances of doing it. It takes a bit of pressure to get bonus points away but that's about it.

Why not force the win - assuming no rain lead should be 400 by lunch tomorrow with 2 sessions to try at least. No way Sussex can chase 400 in 60 overs

They would have to go for 350 off two sessions, a draw is pointless to them. It would be very unlikely, but I'd rather not taking even the slightest chance. Winning promotion is the priority, the title is just a bit of icing.

Draw will give us a 3 point lead over Kent. Produce a batting wicket and let Trott finish with a ton on his last game at home.

350 though means trying to score at roughly a run a ball without the fielding restrictions that help you do it in one-day games and on a 4 day old pitch. If we bat until Lunch the chances of them winning become astonishingly small.

Added a few more since tea.  They have formed a pretty decent opening partnership over the past few games.
