Better to boo than fuck off on 75 minutes en masse.
I'm not sure I agree with that.
Appreciate others will disagree, but for me the majority role of a football supporter is exactly that, supporting & encouraging.
It'll sound patronising, but I seem to remember the Baggies coming up one year and maybe going straight back down, but being impressed by the persistent positive support they seemed to get from their fans. (of course my experience of their away support may not have represented their home support).
Clearly there is a difference between working your socks off whilst being not good enough, and being lazy/not stepping up etc.
Of course there are times when enough is enough, these should be very few & far between. Maybe we've had too many of those of late, I share the intense frustration towards some of our expensive wastrels.
I suppose for me it's about how do we get what we want, and whilst of course these are usually tiny tiny margins, the current West Ham crisis is an excellent case where some of the crowd make it more difficult for the team.
I want my team to do well. Encouraging them on the whole is the best way to do that. I reckon it's quite rare that a crowd turning on a team helps them.
It's just *so* very very far from something I could easily do, to boo my own team. Am I alone in this?
