It was a shit attempt at a joke.
Haha! Oh no! This information suggests that I am paranoid. I was hoping there was a back story that would pit me in the clear (former fanzine writer or local journalist abandoned by fans at a service station on route). Scott Murray the player obviously made a big and lasting impression on me lol

According to wiki he's now the kit man at Bristol City.

I was at that game in 1983 as a twelve year old but don't remember any trouble before the game. I also don't recall Ron Saunders "disparaging Tony Barton in the press" beforehand. I do remember watching the brief highlights of the game from Central news on the Monday night over and over. Partly as we had won and partly just because I could as we had only just acquired our first video recorder a week or two before.

His contemporary Mark Draper is also a kit man too, or was, at Notts County. The last generation of footballers to just miss out on the TV deals that would have given them pensions for life.

My only memory of him is he played in one of the most boring games i've ever been to. 0-0 at home to Boro, a midweek game just before the LC final in '96.

Most of our home games against Boro seem to be amazingly dull 0-0s, or at least that’s how I remember them.

They are, apart from our 3-0  home win against them on our way to the title in ‘81 👍

I remember us not being able to beat them at home in the 1970s and it always seemed to be absolutely freezing when we played them. Even when we beat them in our final home league game in 1981 it snowed that evening.

We tend to never beat them at Villa Park but always beat them away. Given the travel distance, it would probably be easier for both sets of fans if we agreed to swap.
