Easing into the new year with a very impressive performance by Joshua Buatsi. Has anyone seen the rest?

Buatsi did look a talent to watch.

Main event looked what it was, two pro novices in front of a big crowd.  Couple of good rounds & 8 v messy ones

I have only bet on a boxing match once in my life. I had won a few quid on a football acca in the mid nineties. The bookie was a mate of mine who operated from a bar in Tenerife where I was living at the time. After a few drinks together later that night he talked me into putting my winnings on to a big fight coming up. He even talked me into naming a round as well as the winner. I took a blind punt on Lennox Lewis to beat Tommy Morrison in the sixth round. More by chance than judgement I got back to my apartment just as the sixth round was starting. My mate was gutted when he had to weigh me in the next day.

The bookies seem to think the Groves/Eubank fight will go the distance and be decided on points so there isn't much value in betting on that unless you are prepared to go big. But there is enough value in the rounds 10 to 12 option  (Groves is twelves, Eubank eights) to have a little interest bet on both boxers in those later rounds.

Easy for Groves. It really makes you wonder why Eubank hasn't got himself a trainer and ditched his dad.

Bit of an upset to kick the night off, then the predictable result when a promising British heavyweight is fighting.

Another reminder for the next time someone moans that a fight's been stopped too soon.

20 year old British Heavyweight Daniel Dubois won again on Saturday, taken to the 3rd round for the first time. Record now 7 - 0, 3 KOs and 4 TKOs.

Definitely a fight or two too early. Fair play for taking it and for staying the distance. He'll learn from that one.

Deontay Wilder didn't look that impressive last night against Luis Ortiz, a slow first few rounds before the fight picked up.
