I’ve received tickets through this site and got tickets for people through this site, as long as they are going or coming to Villa fans I’m not going to worry to much about much beyond that.

It doesn’t take too many posts to decided who you want to help out or not.

I often use references from season ticket holders on here to get away tickets ( to supplement the meagre offering that the London Lions get from the club). I don't see myself as a sucker though, it's more a case of quid pro quo and I'm very grateful. They know who they are and they do a great service

Anyone who uses a reference for Sunderland is a sucker though. It will go to general sale and most on here claim it isn't even going to sell out.

Why the need to be exploited to the detriment of your own client history just to boost someone elses?

Morally, the using of someone elses reference is wrong anyway because in games of high demand, it is depriving someone of a ticket who has traveled to more away games. Ideally, I would like the club to provide a facility where whoever is in physical possession of the match ticket can have that ticket allotted to their own history. There's no point in having a reference system if it isn't worked properly and people like you will always miss out on games with high demands because the fat cat who has fed you references all season will want to venture to the big game himself.

I’ve never missed a Villa game I’ve wanted the see

Nor me, other than Sunderland in 1975 when I was locked out.

If you go to more than 1 away game then there is no need whatsoever for you to rely on other people. You can get these tickets on your own reference - You really don't need to use other peoples. Fulham, Brentford, QPR, Reading were all either general sale or 1 away. I wonder if you'll get Millwall tickets as easily if we need a point to secure 2nd place?

The turnstiles weren’t all closed at the Sunderland game in 1975. You just had to keep trying to get in.

I'm not so sure about that mate - There were 1000s outside, including many Sunderland fans.

I was at the Trinity road side and all of those turnstiles closed at the same time. I walked around to the Witton lane side and they were all shut as well. At that point, Sunderland fans were walking up towards us as their turnstiles had obviously closed a s well.

There are a few bullshitters on here, not just newish members. You have to be careful who you are pressed into believing.

News to me. First time in 43 years I've heard that story. I know fans that never missed a home game and saw plenty away that season that were locked out.

That was me - I missed Portsmouth away in the February and didn't miss another game until Sunderland, last home game. It was my own fault but I was heartbroken at the time.

The last time we won 8 in row was 1974/75 season including Oldham (my first ever Villa game) and Sunderland at home (my second ever Villa game). Brings back great memories and I remember being in the Witton Lane end for both games and being a bit frightened about how many people were there (given I was only a wee boy at this time).

Looks like they've taken the front row away. Or if they weren't already selling it, then the second.

Seems common practice if you're in the upper tier, to rope off a few rows if there is no netting underneath to catch missiles.
