Defibrillator appeal
« on: January 09, 2018, 09:40:55 PM »
As some of you know I also follow Bromsgrove Sporting, and their manager Paul Smith is raising money to supply as many defibrillators as possible to non league clubs. If you can help donate, or just share it on social media that would be great as it's a great cause, and he's a Villa fan as an added bonus.

CASH continues to flow in for Bromsgrove Sporting manager Paul Smith's campaign to obtain defibrillators for non-league football clubs.

Smith launched the campaign after hearing about the plight of Alvechurch supporter Rick Edwards who collapsed while watching a recent game against Gresley Rovers.

Luckily for Alvechurch, they had only just recently purchased a defibrillator, but Smith is concerned that many smaller clubs are not equipped with one.

Smith collected money for his campaign during Alvechurch's clash with Romulus on New Year's Day, with his online tally now hitting £2,000 - more than the initial £1,500 target.

Smith said: "These defibrillators save lives, yet there are 100's of Non League clubs without one.

"Originally, I just wanted to raise enough money to purchase one, but the campaign has really taken off.

"I just want to try and raise as much money as we can and I hope that people will support us."

The campaign has already been handed a huge seal of approval with AFC Bournmouth player Tyrone Mings contributing £250.

Mings is a friend of former Bromsgrove Sporting goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan.

Smith has already been in contact with the Birmingham County FA to see how best they can take the campaign forward.

In the meantime any non-league football club wishing to obtain a defibrillator should write to Paul Smith in the first instance at Bromsgrove Sporting FC.
