Does anybody have the words to this Villa song:
« on: December 10, 2017, 06:51:43 PM »
The one Big H lead from the ultras box in Germany?

Begins:

'A little piece of heaven fell out the sky one day'

Cheers

I've never heard that song , but  " My old man's a dustman " would fit.

The melody is an old Irish tune I believe, 'If We Only Had Old Ireland Over Here' I believe it's called.

The closest I can come to describing the tune is that it sounded like a verse from:

'They got knocked out the FA Cup by non league Altricham, and in the final minute the referee blew up.....'

And so on.

Or Alec Stock's Fulham, to quote the original.

👍🏼 Nice one

Forty odd years and I had never made that connection.

Are there two lines missing from this song?

The words I’ve copied down are below and there’s six lines to it. I’ve copied the original lines and there’s eight lines to it?

A little piece of heaven fell from the sky one day
It landed down in Aston and football they did play
They built a church next to it and the Aston Tavern too
Where they serve old Ansells Mild our Brummies' favourite brew
And then they built the terraces, and the floodlights for the dark
And when they had it finished, sure they called in Villa Park!

Sure a little bit of Heaven fell from out the sky one day
and it nestled in the ocean in a place so far away
and when the angels found it sure it looked so sweet and fair
they said suppose we leave it for it lookes so peaceful there

So they sprinkled it with stardust just to make the shamorcks grow
it's the only place you'll find them no matter where you go
then they darted it with silver just to make the lakes look grand
and when they had it finsihed sure they called it Ireland

I believe the original title is 'A Little Bit Of Heaven'  it should be easy enough to Google the lyrics.
