What fans spoke? I don't remember being consulted.
The 10,000 or so who sang along with it.

Are you always consulted when new songs get momentum on the Holt?

No, why would I be? You're the one who suggested that the fans decided, noone has ever decided on any song which is played over the tannoy, to my knowledge.

I've no idea why someone has chosen to impose this one on everyone.

It's a Man City song, it's embarrassing. Manchester is our rival city. We could do without adding to their vastly-inflated cultural mythos.
I did enjoy the rendition at the end of the Small Heath game at Villa Park last season it even got a mention on German TV! But on the whole I agree with your take on it being a manc song from a manc band who are big man city supporters. The best I can come up with is, The day we caught the train by OCS. Brummie band with a big villa connection. Wouldn't mind hearing that blasting from the tannoy.

It could be worse. It could be the cover of Heroes Noel Gallagher did.

Or his new single which is genuinely one of the worst things I've ever heard.

On second thoughts, stick with Oasis...

I don't like it. I'd rather fans were given the opportunity to sing whatever comes into their heads, spontaneously, rather than having this inflicted on us and making it impossible for any other chant to start, naturally, of its own accord.

The fans did start it; that's the whole point. If we didn't like it we wouldn't sing it.

The tannoy started it. I have never heard a single fan sing it at a Villa match except when it is pumped in over the PA.

Obviously there was a mass hallucination at Reading and thousands of us are somehow forced to sing it at Villa Park.

Fans sung it, they enjoyed it, they sung it again, the club caught hold and help along. Who honestly gives a fuck about where the band are from? Seriously it really doesn't matter a jot does it?

What I will say is that the club made a HUGE fuck-up in playing Chelsea Dagger when we played them a few years ago, that was stupid.

I've turned the radio off twice today because that came on. It's absolutely horrific.

Don’t give me all that Oasis bollocks. Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie.

Yeah, I'm with you.
Something we can all sing along to

Or hum along to in this case

The suggestion of playing Freiheit in the opening post is one of the most brilliantly random things I’ve read on here.  In the spirit of 1980s one hit wonders, I’d like us to do a version of Charlene’s “I’ve Never Been to Me”.  We can use it when we’re promoted next year: “I’ve been to Huddersfield, but I’ve never been to Leeds.”

At the risk of incurring Percy's wrath, if they were to narrow it down to a song with Birmingham connections then you'd really be struggling.
