A New Post Match Song At Villa Park
« on: November 24, 2017, 09:15:59 PM »
Friday night fun.

Assuming people are getting fed up of Oasis blurb, I vote for Keeping The Dream Alive by Freiheit.  A most stirring number from back in the day.  The words are very apt however.  No need to hide, no need to run, because all of the answers come one by one.  The game will never be over, because we're keeping the dream alive'.

Alternatives?  I intend to send mine in as a suggestion.

Don’t give me all that Oasis bollocks. Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie.

As we push for promotion “we’ll meet again.... “ should be played every time we win.

Yeah, I'm with you.
Something we can all sing along to

I'm not a great lover of that Oasis song, but the strange thing is I don't mind hearing it as it means we have won again :)

I think we should stick with DLBIA (the Villa say), at least until we get promoted, hopefully this season. As a post match winning song it came instinctively from Villa fans and was great after the scum match last season at VP.

That's me too. Wish it was something else though, I'd be equally as happy.  In fact, I wouldn't mind binning whoever the DJ/announcer is at VP.

I think it's absolutely fine.  It was a spontaneous moment that perfectly reflected a moment in time and has evolved from there.  I'd much prefer this to a contrived "wouldn't xyz be great (typically insert here some heavy metal bollocks maybe with a midlands connection), lets have a poll."

The fans spoke by getting behind the song.  In my view it remains perfectly relevant and we should keep it until we are promoted, at least.

What fans spoke? I don't remember being consulted.

Keep it. It was spontaneous, which is usually better than something planned.

Great song as well (in my opinion) - always reminds me of listening to it played at Wembley just before the 1996 League Cup Final kicked off.

The 10,000 or so who sang along with it.

Are you always consulted when new songs get momentum on the Holt?

As someone who doesn't sit on the Holte End but as someone who was at Reading that night when DLBIA surfaced purely because Reading PA put it on,
the emotion that shone through in those 3/4 minutes was something to behold. An amazing moment, that you had to be there to appreciate it...i shed
tears of joy in those few minutes....so a massive YES from me keep it.

And there you go.  Exactly why it is far more relevant than anything ever selected by a poll of fan focus group.  For people who don't like it that is of course unfortunate, but anthems are created spontaneously, not on internet forums.  It will have run it's course if and when the fans in the ground stop getting behind it.

I might be wrong, but I remember it as being Roll With It that was played before kick off.
