I knew about four of those but had missed the news about Justin Rose. I'm not sure why people don't like Hamilton. I'm not particularly a fan of his but I don't have a problem with him either.

He's a tax-dodging wanker and a smug git.

There are more than a few footballers who also fall into this category  ???

He's free to live where he likes, surely?  And in living in the country of his choosing, he pays tax in that country.

Of course. And much like the others who flee rather than pay their fair share, I'm entitled to think he's a wanker.

He went to the same school as Ashley Young. I heard they hate each other for some reason.

Why should he pay tax in a country he doesn’t live in?

He shouldn't. It's not the living in Switzerland I object to, I don't expect Roger Federer to pay tax in the UK. It's the leaving to go to Switzerland as soon as he got some money, so as to avoid taxation, that I object to.

If everyone with any money did that public services would be even worse than they are under the Tories and tax would have to increase for those who can't afford to upsticks and move themselves (or their money) abroad.

Bloody migrants.

More seriously he works for a German team, who test in Spain so other than one week a year he doesn’t work in the UK so I don’t see why you feel he should be resident here.

He buggered off when still employed by a British team. To avoid tax. Because it would be unbearable for someone with more money than he could ever spend to have a tiny bit less so that we can afford the upkeep of hospitals like the one he was born in, and schools like the one he was educated in.

He's done nothing legally wrong, I just don't like his morals. And the OP stated that it was "a great weekend for English sport", but I struggle to see how Hamilton can be said to have contributed when he wants nothing to do with the country.

The engines are made in Brixworth, just around the corner from me, and the same village where my youngest goes to nursery.  I play football on a Tuesday night with one of the senior technical directors, and he reckons that Hamilton isn't well liked by the team, but is admired because they think he's an absolute genius.
