Question for Redditch Villans
« on: October 01, 2017, 11:21:08 AM »
Going to take my kid to a party at the same exact time as the the blues v villa match. Can drop her off and race to nearest pub then be back to collect her.
Question where in Redditch would be the best pub to watch it please?

Redditch pubs are crap for showing football. The town centre has virtually become non existent and other pubs such as the Dog or the Washford Mill which were great for showing football, are now restaurants (Harvester & Miller and Carter respectively). The best bet would be the Duck Pond opposite the big Tesco as I know it shows football but can't vouch for how good it is. I would say my old local, The Oast House, but this is the base for the Redditch Blues club so best to avoid!

Where is the party as there are a few pubs in neighbouring Studley which are ok. The Swan or the Bell for example.

Yeah the Washford Mill used to be a decent place to watch a game. I occasionally used to go to the Railway in Studley which was ok. The White Hart in Headless Cross has a few screens as well.

Posh? Nah. We had a pub at the top of a hill behind our garden. Can't remember what it was called, I was too young to go in it.

There was a pub next to the 'spoons that showed Sky games but that closed down and hasn't re-opened as anything yet.

There might be one right next to the station that shows games but not 100% on that.

The place next to spoons is now a club style place called Saints.  Not had the pleasure yet.

The place next to the train station is the Golden Cross and not great to be fair.

Red Lion in Hunt End is a good choice. Nice cosy pub, decent beer and 2 screens to choose from. Mainly Villa and the odd Albion fan that get in there.

Is the Villa blues split around 50/50 in the Ditch?

I went to school in Redditch right through the 80's and it was mostly Villa, Man Utd and Liverpool in High School, I knew of ahandful of Noses out of a few hundred kids.

Where I played sport in Redditch through the 90's and amongst my mates it was a more even split, still more Villa than the others though. Not lived there since then.

The White Hart and Steps in Studley were both showing football last time I was over that way. The former is probably a good bet.

They are both good tbf but they are in Headless Cross not Studley.
