New TV deal makes promotion imperative THIS season
« on: September 01, 2017, 12:16:40 PM »
The level of transfer fees being spent by Premier league clubs clearly demonstrates the gulf that is opening up between the premier league and the rest.24 million for Johnny Evans! Turned down!

The 3 teams relegated from the Premier this season will do so with c100 mill. This will give them an unassailable competitive advantage over the rest of the Championship clubs. Blues have just had a very 'busy' window bringing in 14 players and I'd bet that the total spend is less than 25 million or 1 Johnny Evans!

The composition of the Premier League is going to become increasingly static with a number of clubs being pretty much permanent members whilst a handful Yo Yo between the leagues.

I'm afraid if our clubs don't get up this year they never will!

Pretty much, when you realise you would be powerless to stop teams like Bournemouth or Albion taking whichever player of yours they fancy you know the games nearly up.

I don't think clubs should receive parachute payments, why should failure be rewarded so handsomely?

I think smaller clubs might go bust otherwise or otherwise massively increase prices to compensate. They need to pay PL wages, obscene though they are, to have any hope of competing and not everything can be offset by relegation clauses.

Everyone thought the world would end for the lower divisions when the Premier League was set up and at every subsequent TV deal yet it keeps thriving.

What this all really means, same as always, is that if you get players in young, train them in the club and then supplement them instead of trying to buy a team every couple of seasons.
