Given the coincidence I thought there'd be an ode to the Hull thrashing 30 years ago to the day but maybe the author was fighting a hangover as 1988 dawned resulting in a foggy recollection of the Villa events that day.

To the point as usual.

It is a funny game this football - last few weeks I have been apoplectic in my anger towards "Brucosaurus" and was actually disappointed when I woke up after Brentford to find he had not bitten the bullet.
2 games and 2 wins on and all I can think of is the next game and how we could go on a run here and...........  whilst waiting for the next huge lurch towards being shit again.

All I ever want in football is hope - and from the pit of despair we have 5 point gap and hope is driving the chase

come on the Villa boys

Yep. Although I prefer the Bruceratops moniker.

Maybe the massive change is down to Steve Agnew coming in as First Team Coach. Whatever the reason for the seismic shift from pig ugly, pointless, disjointed and negative football to strong, powerful, attacking football, it's very much welcome even if it's a season and a half overdue.

Our unique squad strength is rightly highlighted. There really are no excuses. It's time Bruce and his team delivered.

If Bruce saw a fault in his coaching and convinced the club to recruit Agnew, someone he figured would bring something new to the staff then he should be commended for that. That was the most free we’ve played in a long, long time.
