Wednesday 9th August. 7.45pm kickoff. Live on telly. What could possibly go wrong?

Getting pretty sick of embarrassing cup exits year after year. A convincing four or five nil triumph without getting into second gear would be nice, but I'll settle for any scrappy win. Just do not fuck it up, for once, pretty please.

I expect Johnstone will be "rotated", and I'd probably rest Terry and Whelan. Other than that, we should be looking to play a pretty much full-strength team.

I'll go for us to win one-nil, with a Hogan winner on 79 minutes after Steer saves a penalty on 62.

If we do get through, we will be seeded in the Second Round if at least one team that finished above us last year gets knocked out.

Changes to the side that will mean an appearance for Micah Richards leading to a repeat of last year.

Sorry I can't be anymore optimistic.

We should win this comfortably, and I wouldn't be resting anybody this early as they all need sharpening up.  I'd go 4-3-3 as follows:

Johnstone
Hutton Chester Terry Taylor
Lansbury Whelan Hourihane
Elmohamady Agbonlahor Green

This for me as well, pretty much a full strength team confidence builder for cardiff

I hope he plays and has a blinder encouraging a club to make an offer for him. Unlikely to happen but I think we will win in extra time 1-2.

Elmohamady

Onomah

I would definitely play Hogan to see if he could a goal or two to help his confidence.  Terry and Whelan are the only two I would consider resting and it would probably be worth giving Steer a game at this point, so would go with a side of:

Steer
Hutton
Chester
Samba
Taylor

Elmohamady
Lansbury
Hourihane
Green

Hogan
Agbonlahor

Can see Bruce making a lot of changes though.

I'd give Bree a start, and I reckon he'll give Bjork a start.
