Mayo have now reached their 48th Semi Final - we've converted 3 of them into championships (including 8 straight final losses in 30 years). There can't be another sports team in history with such a propensity to falter in the final stages?

My daughter and her husband took their three boys to the match yesterday for the first time.  It passed over the heads of the youngest two.  The eldest was traumatised!

What chance has he got, following Roscommon and the Villa?

The poor old Rossies took an awful hammering. I couldnt even look the rossie fans in the eye on the way out.
As for this SUnday if the same Mayo team as last Monday turn up then they will give Kerry a run for their money.

And they did. Thought Kerry would win it but blimey Mayo played a great game. Replay next Saturday, then Tyrone v The Dubs, great Gaelic games coming up.

Given the scoring system I'm surprised there are so many draws in GAA.

Whatever about football, hurling is the better sport by miles in my opinion. Granted, galway may be in the final, but my point still stands.

In my youth I had a go at hurling. I was working up in the Highlands and was playing a bit of shinty. A hurling club came over on a tour and we played a game where the first half was shinty, the second half hurling. Completely brutal and they annihilated us in both halves.

I've said it before...Homicidal Hockey!  TBF, there is a fair element of skill in the handling of the hurl and the fielding of the sliothar (ball) but for me it's all too quick to make it fully enjoyable.

I think Scotland play Ireland at some sort of shinty/hurling hybrid. Not sure if it's an annual event or for special occasions, but I vaguely remember it being on telly when I was up in Scotland once.
