The Galway Races are on that week and, getting to that ground is a nightmare at the best of times, throw a football match into the mix and you have total chaos.  Croke Park is probably the right choice this time.

Rossies will beat Mayo the next day. Mayo have been flogging this dead horse for a while now. 11/4 is huge value in Roscommon and I'll certainly be taking it. The added bonus for Roscommon is to get revenge for '80 against Kerry in the semi.

I'd like to think so Mossie.  Roscommon showed today on several occasions that they don't fear Mayo which has been apparent in the past.  If they lose it next week it will be by their own inability to take their points by putting their point scoring chances wide as they did today.

I've watched a bit of this and it seems pretty decent. It puts me off that players don't get paid, though. Inexcusable.

Hi Boys....what type of game is this....15 goalies Vs 15 goalies, bit of basketball, bit of rugger, bit of Mcgregor, straight armed elbows seem to be the norm and as for these mad looking goal posts, stevie wonder would have a field day from 40 yds....paid? why would you want to get paid, sure a good injury insurance policy would make you a millionaire in no time.

The game has changed since these halcyon days:

For the worse, I might add.

It should be in Galway but they might not cope with crowd. Also there might be an airshow in Salthill on Bank Holiday. Up Mayo

Hi johnc, do you think the Cork game and now a replay will be a problem to Mayo, playing a lot of football

In all fairness that was 1990 and the game has moved on.  They're allowed to wear gum shields now!

Mayo are running on empty. The age profile of the team is old. No new players of merit have come through in the last 2-3 years. The players were meant to have this week off if they beat Roscommon because they badly needed the rest. It was tiredness of mind and body that led to some poor attempts at points towards the end of the game. They could beat Roscommon but far greater challenges lie ahead. If I was a betting man I would be following MOssies advice and piling into the Rossies.

As a Rossie I always hope Galway win particularly as I put $50 on them before the season but in the football I'm a ABD.

Early 8am start for the game over here but as I work a couple of Mayo lads we've organised to have the game on in the boardroom. Not much in it (despite the bookies odds) so may well be a question of who raises their game on the day,

A nice story from Ballaghadereen which is in Co. Roscommon but included in Mayo for GAA purposes.
