Contrary to what was on the website earlier, Villa Support Twitter say you can pay on the gate for this.

Thought this may be useful for those struggling to get through since the installation of a new ticket system.

Oh, sorry... they obviously got a swift slap on the wrists.

Somebody on there says the ticket office have stated that's there's less than 100 left.

One guy gives the stats from previous games.
71-72 third division on a Wednesday night 1-1 15,700 at the game.
I was there as a youth, memory is that 2 thirds of the ground were villa.
Lots of raucous behavior and misdemeanors before, during  and after the game.
The following weekend  45,000 at home to walsall for another draw, 0-0. We could never beat those Buggers.
Anyway, promotion year, set in my memory forever.

I was at that game 15th March 1972. I can recall nothing of the game itself but remember exactly where I was stood with it becoming more packed as Villa fans just seemed to keep coming as kick off approached. The ground was right next to the river and Shrewsbury employed a man in a coracle to get the ball if if went over the roof of the side terrace.
I have always been convinced that Thin Lizzy Whiskey in the Jar was played over the tannoy prior to kick off. Whenever I hear that song I am instantly transported back to that place on the terracing at Shrewsbury as a 14 year old kid. Strangely, having just checked it appears the Thin Lizzy version wasn't released until late 1972 so my memory must have been playing tricks all these years.

I was instructed to say Shoesbury (like a pair of shoes) when I emigrated to Shropshire.
Can we pay on the door or cant we ?
