It's a fucking awful tackle. Off the ground, over the ball, studs showing. The fact that the entire City team swarms around the ref to protest just shows what an odious collection of pricks they've got. Nobody should want to see that done to another player, no matter what the score is or what's at stake.

It doesn't matter to me that it was Delph who did it, it could have been Will Grigg on a City player for all I care, the reality is that it was high, it was over the ball, and the studs were showing. Objectivity aside - if Power's foot had been fully planted, that's a potentially career-ending injury. It's not far off Neil Taylor on Seamus Coleman.

My point is that if VAR was employed last night, and indeed adopted full time we risk robbing the game of all the chaos and drama that can ensue after a contentious decision is made.

Nobody should want to see that done to another player, no matter what the score is or what's at stake.Agreed with you I think it was a red, but I think the City players were complaining as much about the fact that the ref originally pulled out a yellow card, before changing it to a red, something I can't remember seeing before.Feel a bit for the Wigan players, as they have just pulled off one of the great FA Cup shocks and all the post match chat has been about the tackle and the pitch invasion and the Wigan fan's skirmish with Aguero.
