America knocked out! They somehow lost to Trinidad and Tobago. Panama got a late winner against Costa Rica to join their opponents and Mexico in the finals. Honduras beat the Mexicans and earn a playoff against Australia.

I’ve been laughing at my US mates. They are in shock. Studio panel almost in tears.

I hope that Kornheiser and Wilbon are on PTI tonight. It'll be hilarious, likewise Tony's podcast today

LOL they were fired up and very confident yesterday. I can’t wait for Tony to call the US team “choking dawgs” and Wilbon to go nuts.

Football was a hell of a lot tastier 24 years ago everywhere. In 1993 we went to the Sty and there was a battle on Garrison Lane. We will go in a few weeks time and nothing will happen.

The games moved on.

Was there? Cant say i remember that, and football was "a hell of a lot tastier?" i cant say i saw any major problems at all following Villa home and away in the late 80's early 90's.

It got moody/tasty at the sty around 1996.

And that was for a John Frain testimonial with Brian Little and Allan Evans, our manager and assistant at the time playing for us. I think we stuck five or six past their first team. They were waiting for us on the way out. (The noses I mean. Not Little and Evans or the Small Heath first team).

Glenn Whelan will be at the World Cup but "USA, USA, USA" won't. Marvellous.

That's if they get through the plays offs.

That's where my knowledge of football falls down, forgot there are further matches. Still, great that the "USA, USA, USA" won't be there.

Which would also mean MON being there, which is somewhat less marvellous.

I will be supporting him and Ireland. The timing of his leaving us wasn't great and may have been deliberately spiteful, but you could say the same about Ron Saunders. It least MON didn't go to Small Heath.

The more and more you watch MON teams as a neutral you realise his style isn't very much different to likes of Pulis and Big Sam.

30% possession, long balls, rely on set plays etc.

He did that all with us of course but we had high calibre players who could execute the counter attack style brilliantly (Laursen, Young, Carew etc) so we didn't look as limited in games as Pulis teams frequently do.

Well the ref quite rightly gave a free kick against the keeper for handball outside the area and as for defender he only tried to protect his face. Both correct decisions ;D

Worth noting that two in a row Copa America winners Chile, failed to qualify too.

Given they've had a summer tournament every year for about six years, I reckon they'll be glad of the rest.

Different subject but that video of the Welsh anthem outside the ground is cracking.

They have a very good base section and a solo top tenor it would seem (for a Zulu link).

Musically, they are very impressive.

At our place, their rendition of "We're Swansea City, we're shit on the road" was top notch.
