At least we shouldn't be going to Russia in a blaze of ludicrous hype about how we're going to win the thing. Even to the red tops it must be patently obvious that we need to lower our expectations. Maybe to just winning one group match. Or a throw-in.

The red tops will slag us off until A couple of weeks before the tournament starts. Then we will be one of the best teams in the world. Anyone would think they do it just to sell papers.

The "fucking" England band must be among the stayaways from Wembley and my enjoyment has shot up 100%.

Hoddle to vanish next please.
Then Sterling perhaps and Oxlade-Whatsthepoint.

I like Glenda. He makes me smile. He is slowly turning his crucifying (sorry for the religious reference Glenda) of the English language into Professor Stanley Unwin proportions.

Looks like I made the right decision to go to see the new Blade Runner film instead of watching our national show yet again how terrible they are.

Terrible mate. I think England would've been booed off had it not been for Kane's late goal.

I'm luckily away on holiday and have only just read about it. Confirms my view of " What is the point of Jordan Henderson?" If Delph hadn't been a weasel in search of money, he'd be an England regular by now, least he always tried to pass the ball forward....but he made his bed, so fcuk him.

Gareth Southgate says his England side remain "a work in progress" and warned they "won't become Spain in eight months" after they qualified for next summer's World Cup in Russia.

You don't say.

England are nailed on to win the World Cup. I'm off to dance in a Trafalgar Square fountain already.

Normally we look decent in qualifiers and then rubbish in the tournaments.  Maybe we are going to switch that around this time.......

I'll get me coat.

England 38 (thirty eight!) games unbeaten in qualifiers.  There haven't been any games against recognised big teams in that run, and most have been against minnows like San Marino, Scotland, Moldova and Wales, so it shows that England are the very definition of flat track bullies.  Qualify easily against non entity teams, but then shit the bed every single time at the finals as soon as they meet anybody decent.
