At club level Messi has already eclipsed Maradona having had more great seasons than Maradona, who along with his early years in Argentina had probably six excellent years at Lazio. He certainly hasn't overtaken Maradona at international level though.

Maradona was at Napoli.  You're thinking of Siniša Mihajlović.  Easily done, mind you

I knew it was Napoli (I believe he had a few mafia mates) so I have no idea why I put Lazio. Although Maradona was a bit on the chubby side so maybe I was confusing him with Gazza. ;)

Watching Lyon v Atalanta.

That Bertrand Traore is a cracking player, I'm glad Chelsea sold him.

He's 22 and already has 42 caps for Burkina Faso.

Everton under pressure 2-2 against 10 man side  Koeman struggling not getting the results.
Villa esqe in that they can't get right balance and right team and a manager who signed perhaps the wrong type of players for the style and balance of team. Not replacing lukaku was ludicrous. As is hailing Rooney to get them top 4 and signing Sigurdsson for 50 million playing him out of position .  That victory against Bournemouth gives Koeman time but seeing them think lacking

I see Everton have started negotiations with Gueye over a new contract.  It will be interesting to see how that develops should Everton continue to sink.

I thought getting Rooney back as a talisman was a good idea as I still think he has plenty to offer. I am a big fan of Sigurdsson, but the transfer fee stunned me. The glaringly obvious problem is not even coming close to replacing one of the leagues most prolific scorers. Having said that, when you are an under pressure manager the last thing you need is Ashley Williams doing what he did last night.

Luongo looks a decent player, weren't we after him before he went to qpr?

He’s just sheer class. Even his disallowed goal was a decent finish.

Let’s face it, barring one World Cup in ‘66 England have always been shit.

Wrong!  England were very good in Mexico 1970.  But for a shit goalkeeper only in because Gordon Banks actually had the shits, England would have made the final.  I would argue that that England side was better than the one that one it.
