I agree with SE. Maradonna is the standout greatest footballer from last 40 years. Only Zidane came close to him. Messi and Ronaldo not even close.

Unsurprising then that England haven't got the best out of him. Another brilliant hat trick tonight. There seems to be a big debate at the moment as to whether he is 'world class' or not. He might not be a Maradona, Messi or Ronaldo but he could be a Lineker and score a decent amount of goals for England in tournaments.Messi hasn't proved to be a Maradona, so it's fair to say that Kane won't.I think most people would settle for a Lineker though!Wouldn't you say Messi is a better player than Maradona was? Personally I discount world cups and international football as its always been a bit of a lottery and of a lower standard than top club football. Absolutely not. Maradona is the single greatest player to adorn grass. I love him, he was my first hero. I may be a bit biased. Messi's wonderful, but nobody's trying to break his legs.

At club level Messi has already eclipsed Maradona having had more great seasons than Maradona, who along with his early years in Argentina had probably six excellent years at Lazio. He certainly hasn't overtaken Maradona at international level though.
