More Corporal Jones when backing off a striker running at him.

Jones - The Kaiser!

In the sense of lost and had to ignominiously go into exile in the Netherlands?

England won't make it out of their group next year.

For the resources available to them, NornIron winning five matches on the spin is mighty impressive.

Superb, Michael O'Neill is a very impressive coach. Took Shamrock Rovers to the Europa League, where McLeish spotted Enda Stevens, but was hardly a popular choice when he took the job. Seems to be a fair old man manager too. Hope he heads towards a coaching job in Europe when he finishes up. As a slight aside, Steven Davis is a very impressive international midfielder.

Surprising that nobody has taken a punt on MON(N,NTMON) yet.

I think their achievements in reaching the Euros were unfairly dismissed on the basis that it was an expanded format (while overlooking the fact that they won their group and would have qualified at a canter even under the old system).

If they qualify for the World Cup too, he's a miracle worker.

Northern Ireland keep on impressing me they have have done really well with what they have got Michael O'Neill's a very good manager and will one day when he leaves international football will get a job in the top two divisions in England I'm sure of that.

I see nothing in any of England's games under Southgate that we won't stink the World Cup out again next summer. Same old style, lack of pace, imagination and quality.
England really need a new approach to major tournaments.

I can only think of Venables, Hoddle and Sven who seemed to have a plan. Although Southgate has earned the right to take us into the tournament proper. I think we have missed chances to appoint potentially good England managers who really knew their stuff and would have handled the job well. Cloughie, BFR and whatever you think about him personally, Harry Redknapp.

Northern Ireland beating the Czechs last night spoilt a nice acca for me.
