No. Sheffield United v Leicester on our day. Pretty boring, I'd have gone Accrington Stanley v West Brom or Blackburn v Burnley for the potential fisticuffs.

I must say I did enjoy the BBC's recreation of the opening day of the season when football began. People were texting in reacting to the games as if they were actually living in '92.

I messaged them something about expecting a big season from Dalian but they didn't publish it unfortunately. He grabbed a late equaliser at Ipswich that day. And today is the first anniversary of his death.

For anyone interested, the Beeb will be broadcasting a stream of the South Shields v Bridlington in the FAC 1st qualifying round on their website and iplayer. KO is 12.30 so should be no floodlight problems if Bridlington are winning.

I didn't realise it was a year ago. That seems to have gone really quick.

Sunderland had an absolute basket-case of a pre season, yet they're doing fine.

Maybe it really is just us.

I hadn't realised that we'd loaned out one of our many Shitovs to Astana.
