Linfield vs Celtic is a football match, and therefore belongs on this thread.

It is also difficult to discuss said game without mentioning the political context. Why was the game even being played on the Friday rather than the 12th July like other Champions League games in the first place?

But, I'm happy to leave it. The match is over. I don't like Celtic but compared to those knuckle-draggers they are the nicest team going. I might mention the tie again if anything interesting happens in the Second Leg.

Best team won, Griffiths deserves a booking every time that forehead walks onto the pitch.

I seem to recall Linfield being considered the third party of an unofficial alliance of right wing, nationalistic thug teams that play in blue across the UK, the other two being Chelsea and the football club formerly known as Rangers.

I was not aware of Linfield's past and the blue connection.  Thank you for posting that.  They certainly did not cover themselves in glory yesterday from what I have read.

What the actual fuck are you going on about, "trying too hard"? I'm recalling a memory regarding a topic of discussion.

And in any case, do you not think switched date of the fixture and the bottle throwing may have been polically influenced, for example?

Come on Lee don't you know when it comes to football we should completely ignore associated stuff  like racism and bigotry.  Cos it's politics ain't it? ::)

Like the time the ref booked Mark Bosnich when he was having batteries thrown at him in Madrid.
But the batteries were fully charged so ....

You can tell us. Coopers fessed up to being silhill, or the other way round, and it was fine. Mods are cool and shit as you may know. Tell you what me and Chris are the ones that care so just let either of us know and if you forget we'll just remember to remind you.

So bit of good news. Suliman scored for England U19s and they went on to win the final 2-1 against Portugal.

Polically?

Villa v Sandwell got switched and a lot more than one bottle got thrown, did the major of Brum suddenly get brought into it?

Leave politics away from other football.
