Was at Alvechurch's ground today, for a function rather than a game. Nice little ground with a well-stocked bar and lovely scenery.

I was down the road from you playing cricket at my nephew's school fete in Barnt Green. We could have typed at each other if we'd known.

We went past a sign for Barnt Green. I was excited as we've seen Barnt Green Spartak play before (although they were called GSA Sports at the time).

Romulus 0-3 Bromsgrove Sporting. Sutton's ground was ok but pretty run down if i'm honest. I don't think i've seen another ground with enough weeds you could lose David Bellamy in them. As for the game, comfortable win against a side a division above, although I have no idea if it was their best 11 or not. Some of our new signings look pretty tidy.
Did you know the "large" seated stand was previously situated at Maine Road of Manchester City fame?

I'd agree though that it could do with a bit of a spring clean. With the amount of money the 3G (newly relaid) generates you would have thought a bit more care would be taken on the outskirts.

It's a weird place. The houses all look like they've been dropped in from Hampstead but the people walking through the middle of the village look like they were bused in from Telford, all England shirts and tatts. Ironically, that's precisely the journey my sister took. Sans football shirt and tatts. And I don't think she went in a bus. Apart from that, exactly the same.

We didn't go by bus, we went by taxi. The driver had his window open and a bird managed to shit on him.

You know you've had an exciting journey when seeing a sign saying "Barnt Green" isn't even the most thrilling bit.

I liked the seat stand in the corner. Worst for weeds etc was the terrace at the other end to the club house and the walk from there down the side towards that corner stand. With the money from the 3G and is it 4 sides that play there, you'd think someone would tidy it up. I know Romulus, Sutton and Villa ladies play there, can't remember if the sign had another team on it as well.

Stuck up bugger. Sutton's ground is pretty nice imo.

Tempted to do the next available non-league day there.

There's a cracking pub near the station as well, The Weighbridge it's called or something like that.

Big beer garden? If it is, I think I've been before. There's a few nice pubs in Alvechurch, to be fair.

Easah Suliman's been playing in the England U-19 team that's cruised into the Euro semi-finals. That there Sessignon of Fulham doesn't half look good. Be amazed if here's there after the summer.

My mate's in Tblisi for the tournament - his nephew Aaron Ramsdale is the U-19 goalkeeper. It's fooking hot but the beer is reasonably priced.

Sort of related, anyone remember the Midlands Masters a few years ago at the NIA?  A Villa side won that, I think beating Wolves in the final on penalties.
