It may be my age or the fact that i've not watched a lot of Match of the Day but i've never heard of Joe Gomez.

Great score but I expect the Swedes to fuck it up when in Rome.

That would be a real fuck up if they lose it in Rome.

The second leg is in Milan.

Sssh! Don’t tell Italy and then Sweden will win by a walkover!

Since Southgate took over I have had to Google a number of his selections and last night was no different. Good performance from England though. We could have won, should have won and nearly won at the death. I like Southgate's formation as it is flexible depending on whether we are on the front foot or on the back foot.

Luxembourg beat Hungary to ruin my bet on Thursday night. To be fair I think Luxembourg have had by far their most successful qualifying results in their history this time around.

Football stories you couldn't make up

Blackpool have succeeded in their demands to have the referee changed for their game this weekend. Due to their ongoing ownership disputes they were offended at the appointment of 'Ben Toner'. I kid you not.

Utterly ludicrous. How many clubs have owners that are hated by the fans? He could end up being banned from half the matches he is supposed to officiate. Would be very pissed off if I was him.

His brother Shy was banned from officiating at Villa Park during the Lerner era.

That is hilarious.  Took me a while to understand why he was replaced, mind.  Not with it today.

That made me laugh, so I had to google to check it wasn't simply a joke.  I'm flabbergasted to find it's true, and flabbergasted by the decision to remove this chap to another game.
