I honestly can't believe he's been banned over this, even if it wasn't a mistake there wasn't really any insult, just a video of Lewis Dunk kicking Davis in the air and a comment saying "referees in this league have actual disabilities" (or something very close to that).  It's crass but it's not really saying anything other than "are you blind ref?" or "did you leave your specs at home?".  I reckon there isn't a game goes by at a professional level where someone doesn't say something like that at least once during the game.

I'd imagine so.

Speaking of visually impaired officials, is the linesman Bacuna viciously attacked out of his coma yet?

Good point well made, Ads - but I'm more interested in whether Bacuna was ever hauled up on a Disrepute Charge for his piss-poor attempt of impersonating a professional footballer.

The word to sum up this punshment of Keith Wyness is 'petty'.

Anybody who goes to games knows that it is marbled through with sexism, racism, homophobia and bigotry.  It is nowhere near as bad as it used to be but it is still there.  Ridding the game of those vices is a work in progress but the FA straining at the gnat of a referee having his vision questioned while swallowing camels like England fans doing Dambusters with impunity tells you everything about the FA.

The FA, and all other official football bodies for that matter, have always been run by wankers.  This proves they still are.

Be careful not to disparage their sexuality or you'll be for it!

'Blazers', Brian? Well there's a euphemism that's somehow passed me by!

Blazers as first used by Will Carling to describe the old farts running the RFU.  One name fits all.

Referees in this league actually have disabilities hashtag avfc

I actually think it's a stupid tweet from a man in his position (even if it was a re-tweet and he didn't actually type it). I really hope he's more switched on, methodical and aware in his role at the club and he was just caught up in the excitement/moment of the match.

Maybe, according to this article though (written in 2014) the FA have made over £350,000 in Twitter fines since 2011 (well between 2011-2014) God knows the amount they're on now? 121 cases in that 3 year period so it's not a new thing and it's certainly not just us as a club that have been singled out. It obviously seems harsh to most people on here but a man in his position must be aware of what has gone on before and the prior fines handed out? For the record Ashley Cole's fine of £90,000 for calling the FA "A bunch of Tw*ts" is the highest between that time.

Complete and utter nonsense from the FA.

Instead they should be actively trying to improve the standard of refereeing in the Championship. I really have been shocked this last season at just how poor the standard is, most on a comedy level.

Of course it would.  The FA have spent all season making an example of us by applying excessive bans with no precedence, this is just the latest in a list of them.  This is also why I think the approach of being whiter than white regarding FFP is the right thing to do.  You can guarantee that if we win the league but we're slightly over the limit we'd be the first club to get a meaningful punishment for it and our promotion would be under threat.
