4th May 1957 F A Cup Final
« on: May 04, 2017, 10:57:54 AM »
Villa 2 Manchester United 1

Yes it's 60 years ago today, since we last won the Cup. It was the first ever match I watched, unfortunately not at Wembley, but at home on our 12 inch black & white tele.

The great Peter McParland scored both the goals, he was my hero then and still is my all time Villa hero. Unfortunately Nigel Sims and Peter Mac are the only ones of that team still alive.

60 glorious, well apart from the odd one or two, years a Villa fan.

the only domestic trophy i have not seen Villa win born late 58 the FA Cup is my Holy Grail and i think that one is going to happen. I do feel a little sorry for our younger fans that have seen we win nothing at all. i hope they get to see a few trophy's before to long.

I hope Sims and McParland live to see the next one. If Hibs can win it, we've no excuse. Sort it out, Villa.

Neither me nor my old man were alive.  Just hope we win it while we can still go together.

I think I must have missed seeing Hibs win it!

I've got my old mans programme and match ticket together with a claret and blue addition of the sports Argus.

Unfortunately the condition of the paper has really deteriorated but Its a great piece of memorabilia

I should have said "if Hibs can win their cup". Obviously they haven't won the "English" FA Cup.

I was seventeen at the time and having seen my first game in `48 it was a glorious win, against all the odds.
And I`m lucky enough to own a replica Final shirt with the signatures of all bar three of the players.  The three unsigned players had sadly passed to the Holte End in the sky.

Norm.

I was born in 1962 but my dad was always raving about beating the Busby Babes in the final. I guess that's why I became a fan. Because of his stories games against Man Utd mean more to me than any other and that includes the blues. There's definitely something special about those games

My father still talks about following the Villa all the way to the final. Apparently there was a pre final do at the Tower with the players in attendance and Peter Mac told my old fella they were going to win it.
