I'm stunned. I just kind of assumed he'd recover. Was a huge part of the team during my favourite era as a fan.  Should have got more than four England caps, he really was that good.

Another hero of mine from years gone by has passed at a ridiculously young age. Great player. R.I.P. big man.

Soon as I read it was a cardiac arrest I thought the worst. Survival rates are much lower than a heart attack. It's been a very sad day realising one of your favourite players has passed away at a ridiculously young age, bless him.

Gutted.

What a lovely fella, saw him in bamboo one night and told my mrs who he was. She went and said hello and he asked how she knew his name? Oh my boyfriend is mad about villa but was to worried about bothering you to say hello she replied. The big man then came over, sat down bought us drinks and talked villa with me for a good 20 minutes before wishing us a good night.
RIP Ugo.

Shocked. 44 years old.

His partnership with Southgate was immense in 1995-96. Just a pity his days at the Villa ended in the "lack of ambition - I'm off to Boro" contradiction.

RIP

True, but I don't think now is the time to discuss why he left. He was a top player for us and that's how I think he should be remembered.

RIP Ugo. Knew a fair few folks that knew him back in the 90s, none had a bad word to say about him. Not only a great player but from everything I heard a great bloke as well.

Used to see him out on Broad St regularly in the 90s with Yorke, Small etc and he was always friendly, approachable and chatty. Never once did I see him pissed off with fans coming up to him. In fact he enjoyed it. Lovely bloke.

Really terrible news. Have felt cut up all day, but then watching the clip of Merse paying his respects has pushed me over the edge.

RIP big man. Thanks for your fantastic service to the greatest football club. Gone far too soon.
