I remember singing Big Fat Ron's Claret and Blue Army throughout the entire half time at the Baseball Ground (if memory serves)
Jozef Venglos Claret and Blue Army, the whole half time break in the San Siro, the Italins didn't know what the fk was going on, brilliant!

I was there and it was amazing. Just before the kick off the Inter 'skins' running towards the Villa fans that was sectioned off by plastic screening then thinking better of it when loads the Villa responded in kind.

And that ball went out for the third goal.

I was also there and remember it well, singing all the way through half time. Some of their fans unveiled a banner right in front of us at the end of the game, something like "Villa go home."
That 3rd goal was well out before the cross.

"When you're smiling..."
"Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankley 'have you heard of the North Bank Highbury?' Bill says 'no, I don't think so but I've heard of the Villa Holte End'"
"The bells are ringing ..."
"You're going home in a f**king ambulance"
"If you've a troublesome sore tooth (sore tooth) ..."
"I'd walk a mile and a bit to rub you face in the s**t, oh Francis / Wilson / add another"
"We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate Derby too ..."
"F**K 'em all, f**k 'em all; f**k West Ham Chelsea and Millwall. 'Cos we won't be mastered by no cockney b**tards..."
"In the Liverpool slums, they look in the dustbins for something to eat ..."

A few of the oldies from my early Villa-supporting days. When you're smiling is the one I always thought should have become uniquely ours.
Great selection!

It's weird that so few know when your smiling and younger ones who don't know 7 times we've won the cup. Villa should be taught as a compulsory subject at school.

I've always liked "There's a circus in the town" but haven't heard it much at games in recent years.

I used to like the original (and best) version of "Aston Villa, Aston Villa FC - we're by far the greatest..... the world has ever seen"

For some reason we started copying everyone else and inserting the word "team" after"the greatest". IMO it sounds crap.

Thank you for posting this! I insisted to my kids years ago that the word team wasn't in the song and they told me I was talking rubbish. I knew I was right!!

You're welcome. Not only is the original version much better it tracks better too(listen to me like I know what I'm talking about) so that you can actually sing the song more than once! The newer version just tends to fade out after one line. Blinking millennials! No staying power!

All together now "And it's Aston Villa, Aston Villa FC - We're by far the greatest........ The world has ever seen!....And it's Aston Villa, Aston Villa FC"

What was the song about walking up to the steps of the Holte and spotting a young blues fan all cut up? Can never remember the words
