I think it will likely be Henry or Terry. Purslow worked at Chelsea long enough to know Terry, would not shock me if this is a waiting game for him and the right sporting director to help him out.

It wouldn't surprise me if things are already in the works, a new sporting director will be announced soon I think and i doubt Bruce will survive long after that.

I don't see it being a novice.

I think there is less risk with a novice now than before. Especially ones that have been playing recently, I think they understand the players better and are more in touch with how the game has moved on. Sure some managers need experience, but a fair few have their best years straight out and then dwindle as the game passes them by. Mourinho is little more than a cheque book Pulis now, but 20 years ago was a revolutionary coach and manager. Admittedly we tried Timmy but he was thick as pig shit. Not so sure Henry or Terry are so much.

I would prefer Dean Smith in fairness, I think it's made for him to step up to a bigger stage, but I think it will be a novice.

The inexperienced Frank Lampard just did his mentor Jose Mourinho. Right now I would lay rose petals at the feet of Henry or Terry if it signaled the end of Steve Bruce. That article is in one word, precise.

I got to the part where he says 'We made A mistake' and that sums it up. He wants to sneak draws and wins by the odd goal and one mistake fucks his whole gameplan. Which is, in essence, try and sneak one but don't concede.

I'm royally fucked off with him. I did think he'd understand the big club thing having been at Manchester Utd under Ferguson for so long. But he doesn't. He just doesn't get it at all.

It could well be Terry and I'm only speculating, but I wonder if that is why he has held off signing another playing deal.  He's a 'name', has been at the club recently and seemed pretty popular during his time here.

If results don't go for him in the next two games Bruce has to go, end of.

I thought the reporter  actually asked some decent questions .   This would be what we get if he ever got us up

He's the king of ready made excuses. Must've been to the same as academy as Mark Hughes and Tony Pulis. I'd love him to slip up and come out with a pearler like "all you can ask is for players to roll up their boots and put on their sleeves"

The inexperienced Frank Lampard just did his mentor Jose Mourinho. Right now I would lay rose petals at the feet of Henry or Terry if it signaled the end of Steve Bruce. That article is in one word, precise.

This is what I don't get. Lampard has managed a Carabao Cup win against Man United, and has a managerial career of 9 league matches. Henry has never managed.

I appreciate that sometimes, managers in their first job do well, but more often that not, they don't.

I don't see the point in replacing Bruce with someone else likely to fail.

There's a common argument on here that "anyone who isn't Bruce" will do, which usually comes from the same people (talking in general here, TV) who are vociferous in their view of Bruce as shit.

But if he's really that shit, does 'better than Bruce' not represent the absolute lowest bar possible? Wouldn't it mean, by their own argument, pretty much anyone will be better?

Isn't it the faintest of praise?

What we need as a club is not to go batshit and sack Bruce without any thought about who comes next, we need to get our thinking caps on and act like a properly run club which plans things, and not just appoint a new guy on the basis of he's better than the last guy (but then again, so was pretty much everyone).

We don't need toys to be thrown from prams in a fit of pique that Bruce must go immediately, we need a grown up to look with realism at the situation, and make the best move for the long term development of the club.

BTW - just for clarity, I want Bruce gone, too, I am not defending him in any way, shape or form, but the adrenaline rush from being rid of him would last about a week before we made the next panic appointment and things started to go wrong again. I am tired of that.
