Even the strongest supporters of Bruce are finally coming round.

The most damning thing for him is his regurgitating of his past successes

Unfortunately it will be the past that does for him as well as he clearly has demonstrated that he cannot change his approach or philosophy on the game - so to that extent - he is finished

Make it so

But if the design of the transverse bulkheads had been adequate, the flooding would have been contained to bulkhead one. The ship doesn't list, doesn't sink, evacuated and limps into New York denying Ghostbusters 2 a gag. Ships impact debris, especially pre-sonar.

I challenge that there are more adequate historical references than this one.

Yes you are so right as usual. For example the car that hit the stranded 40 tonner killing all occupants was poorly designed.
I was using the Titanic analogy after coming off a beach in Rhodes, watching cruise liners and obscenely expensive superyachts. It was a parody of Bruce's excuses.Actually,Hannibal would be a better fit."I 've had to replace 6 elephants and it takes time to train up new ones. The Alps,it's not easy you know."

I'd suggest one of the generals famed for some of the most outstanding tactical deployments in the history of warfare, against overwhelming Roman numbers as Trebia, Trasimene and Cannae is an even poorer historical analogy.

The most pertinent bit of that article is the comparison to Mourinho's situation.  Spot on, it doesn't matter what you've done in the past, it's whether the same approach is still working or can work in the current situation for the current club.  Both Bruce and Mourinho look like busted flushes these days.

They also have a very similar way of referring to the size of their clubs in a way that suggests they are flattering when they are really saying expectations are unrealistic and fans are morons.

My 13 year old composed this last night.

Oh Stevie B
(Oh Stevie B)
It's time to leave
(It's time to leave)
Why can't you see
(Why can't you see)
We don't believe
(We don't believe)
That shit you spout
(That shit you spout)
After each game
(After each game)
We want you out
(We want you out)
Cos you're to blame
( Cos you're to blame)

Vi-lla!
Oh we'll never get promoted with Stevie B cos Stevie B's philosophy "we don't need defenders or tactics no more"

Matt Law must have been listening to WM radio, as we were in the car  after the match, because a Villa fan called in and made that exact point almost word for word.

Mainstream and local media attention will now put the spotlight on his team selections, tactics and game management. Unless we start getting back to back wins, the pressure will build until the inevitable.

It does make you wonder exactly what our owners think Bruce is doing right.  To us, and now seemingly the media, he doesn't appear to bring much, if anything, to the table.

I doubt the new owners are happy. I suspect they're willing to wait until the ducks are aligned however and they've appointed somebody they trust for the succession, as its something we'vegot consistently wrong for 8 years.

That’s the thing. The lack of obvious activity means they are either approaching his removal in a far more dispassionate and professional way than most of us would. Or they think he’s doing fine - promotion specialist, hysterical fans etc.

Agree it’s probably (hopefully) the first one but we have so little to go on.

I'm sure you're right.  I wonder whether they've put a timeline on it or to put it another way whether they're prepared to write this season off if getting the right man takes a while.

I would hope they would not write yet another season off.

Our 11th league game this season is against Preston, our 11th, and final, league game under RDM was against Preston. I wonder if history will repeat itself.

Although I think it's more likely that Millwall away is the most likely bullet game. A quarter of the season gone and a 2 week break so if things haven't picked by then it seems the best time to do it. From the owners perspective at least.
