Hopefully, with Jack going, we will revert back to 433 and play with a bit of pace in the final 3rd.  I see 6 starters in the squad:  Hutton & Elmo as full backs, Jedi, Connor & possibly BB working as a 3 and 2 out of Kodjia/Green/Albert.  People like Whelan, Lansbury etc will be good back up if we cannot shift them.

This leaves us to consider a keeper, 2 central defenders (assuming Chester goes) and a striker/wide player.

For me, that would be enough to push for top 6 next season.

I think the following would most likely do ok
4-3-3
Steer or new GK
De Laet or Bree or Elmo
2 from Elphick, Bedeau, Huth?, new CB
Hutton
Jedinak
Thor
Hourahane (pushing on where he's best)
Green
Adomah
Davis

4-4-2
Same GK/ defence except ignore Elmo...
Midfield Elmo, Jedinak, Thor or Hourahane, Adomah or Green
Strikers 2 from Davis, OHare, Hogan.

If by ok, you mean we stay in the Championship then I agree.  However, it is significantly weaker than last season when we came 4th and has no outstanding player at this level.  Better to go with more youth in the hope we sparkle, but that is not Bruce's strength as far as we know - and that's the dilemma.

I shall be deeply disappointed if Bruce is still in place for the start of the season.  However, we have bought our season tickets and as a gesture of support for those whose modest livelihoods depend on VP jobs we have committed to automatic renewal every year.  My own personal stance is that however bad it is, we must stop wallowing in the pain of Wembley and it's immediate aftermath.  The club gambled very heavily on promotion, did not get it so they lost heavily.  If Tony Xia is a twat, he has paid a very heavy price for his twattishness.

We are still Aston Villa.  We still play at Villa Park.  We still play in claret and blue.  Our glorious history is intact.

We have survived Div 3, Tommy Doc passing the hat for a transfer budget, a Bull Ring fishmonger owner, a charabanc tours owner, the Luftwaffe bombing the Witton Lane stand, Doc Venglos, Bingo Billy McNeill, Graham Turner, the breakup of a team of European champions, O'Leary, the snake, Southgate, Ugo and George Boateng decamping to Boro,  O'Neill flouncing out six days before the start of a season, an owner framing a letter of transcendental football wisdom from Alex Ferguson, bomb squaddery....and all the rest.  We can survive this.  And rise again.

It will be interesting to see how the season starts. If we start like shit again it will get ugly and quickly. I just can't summon up much enthusiasm for what we are likely to watch this season. Nor listen to bollocks about hysterics, why it was important we got in the experience of Gordon Banks as goalie or any other exBruces. This will be my last season ticket regardless of how things pan out.

In an interview a while back Bruce made a statement that things will be great as long as I don't fck it up, well he did and he should go.

I couldn't have put it better myself.  I'm not completely aligned (yet) on the comment re. it being the last season ticket, but it's definitely under consideration.

I couldn’t do that.
I don’t see it helping things if I don’t renew because it’s about the club, not the people who screw up trying to own it.
Villa is around forever (hopefully)
Owners are just temporary.

It isn't a protest at bad ownership or the dinosaur we have as a manager. I am not sulking because we aren't the Premier League anymore. I just don't enjoy it now. I am fed up with turning up out of a sense of duty.

Get ugly?  It's ugly already.  The way things sound, we'll get booing the first time we concede a corner, such is the way of things these days.

Exactly how I felt under Dolly. Stopped having a season ticket. Now I go when I can.
Plus I am working nights at Rover, erm, etc....

Mass punch ups in the Holte are highly likely i agree. It would probably be best for all if the grumblers stayed at home in that respect as the last thing we need this season is a negative atmosphere

Punch ups on the Holte?  They wouldn't hit a bloke in glasses would they?  Better buy some glasses.

Blimey, that escalated quickly from booing to mass punch ups in the Holte. Be like that time there were 20,000 Coventry supporters in the Holte.

If a fight on the Holte breaks out I want to be sitting between my brick shithouse grandsons. My son's middle son is built like the Incredible Hulk.

The grumblers could be the majority of the support.
Who are they going to have mass punch ups with?
