He seems to have settled on a formula that is  getting results, it’s ugly but at the moment effective.
To get automatic promotion he still needs to.
1.come up with a plan B
2. Get results against the Top teams in the Division.

Are you saying he hasn't changed tactics at any point?

As for getting results against the top teams, I'd agree.

I want 16 wins out of remaining 28 matches so there are 12  non MUSTWIN games but 10 of those are MUSTDRAW only leaving 2 at COULDLOSE.

We're doing ok.

I agree. He's doing the absolute bare minimum expected of him.

Just read this article https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2017/nov/22/managerial-sackings-premier-league-everton-west-brom about why 5 Premiership teams have sacked their managers so early and the apparent shift of power to smaller clubs with a progressive outlook who are doing well in the League following promotion from the championship. I thought it maybe of interest and relevant to this thread as it touches on some of the subjects and reasons why there is so much debate between us regarding Steve Bruce, his style of football, where we are currently and where we need to be.

This is an interesting debate, particularly if you read some of the accompanying comments. I am in the camp that believes that the manager who brings us promotion should be the man to lead our Prem League revival. Our current manager (whose name I cannot bear to utter) will not be that person: he may deliver the first part but cannot lead our future fortunes.

Yep, we're doing ok. 7 (seven) points is catchable.

Kodjia out - complete reliance on him last season now ended
Jedinak out - yet significantly improved character, especially on the road
Grealish out - Onomah in and looking god
Terry out - won two since then
Lots of last minute goals against - none so far this season

Give him some credit

From the comments to that Guardian article quoted above.

This made me snort tea out through my nostrils.

Quote
What concerns me is what will happen to these manager's now? My suggestion is that they form a Jazz band and call it Frank De Boer and the Honey Badgers. Bilic in the corner chain-smoking as he plucks at the double bass, Tony Pulis in his baseball cap angrily whacking a tambourine. I'd pay to see it.

We're currently top of the away form guide. He's improved us no doubt but I reckon he'll leave in the summer no matter what.

Its 4 4 1 1 and fresh legs and more defenders to protect a lead.
Based on injuries and fatigue I think we will need more than that.

Where are we at with this? Is Saturday's match against whoever it is another MUST WIN?

No it's a MUST WIN rather than a MUST WIN.
A must win? Yes I'd say so. Need to up our game after last night's unconvincing win.

Before we all get too carried away with the pisstaking, let's not forget we're 9 (nine) points behind Wolves still.

But 7 behind Sheff Utd and 2nd will do anyway. There's such a long way to go. We're doing ok.

We're actually 4 behind Sheff Utd who are third and 5 behind Cardiff in second.

He’s doing a lot better than I expected.....but it needs to continue but I can’t help feel we could have 6 match bad spell and fall out of the top six.   Or hopefully we get back injured players and we smash it into automatic promotion. Who knows......love to see Jack boss games.

Point two is why we can't be happy with the play-offs. We don't win in big games.

Well his protect a lead tactic has worked hasn’t it? How many points have we dropped from winning positions? How many goals conceded in the last ten? Pretty sure it’s nil

these were huge weaknesses last season. He said he’d tackled them and he has
