in fairness to Bruce both Hull and certainly Blues were not great and rubbish to watch but he got them both up twice

The championship has move on since then.

no it hasn’t
the standard is still very low in my view

To be fair Ads, I've had the feeling all season so far since the opening day, and still had it after Preston despite enjoying the game and performance. If we get to the new year still in the play offs and with the prospect of all our best players being properly back and up to speed for the run in I might be more optimistic.

If that’s the case, I dread to think how poor it must have been.

I appreciate we all have differing standards but, looking at the most recent results, I'm looking at three "one of those games" in the last 5". Poor - very poor performances against Wolves, Small Heath, and Sheffield Wednesday. That's certainly too often for any team who wants automatic promotion.
It was just 3 of those days!.

True enough. Do you remember 2016, when everything was in black and white, we could stand on the terraces, Des Lynam presented Match of the Day and you couldn't get in to the ground unless you had a flat cap on?

Bruce doesn't know what he's doing in this modern game!

Didn’t he get a team promoted just last year?

Leicester won the league the same month but we've all moved on as a species since then. We even have a flaxon-haired halfwit as the leader of the free world now.

I guarantee* that we won't be promoted this season, and the reason is Steve Bruce.

*I'm always wrong so fingers crossed.

Lost me completely there. We were fifth when I looked at my lefty rag this morning we are now 6th, which as far as I can gather is a playoff position. How exactly have you fixed it?

Bruce trotted out his standard clichés yesterday.  Chief amongst them was his old favourite "it's one of those horrible afternoons" as if it's a random occurrence that he played no part in and had no ability to affect.  Even if we do somehow manage to hang on to a play off spot over the rest of the season, I just cannot see Bruce getting this Villa side to win the play offs.

2 losses in 12 would suggest it is a random occurrence

2 losses in 12 is true, as is 2 in 5 or 4 in 16, the latter 2 don't make you're point as nicely though.

The stat that really matters is points per game.  We started the season needing, roughly, 2 points per game to give us a season total of 90-92, which would be enough for promotion most seasons.  After 16 games we've got 1.6 - it's not terrible but it's a pretty long way short.  More importantly it means we now need 2.1-2.2 points per game from here to get over 90 points.  To put that in context we need 5 wins in every 7 games for the rest of the season to get top 2.

For a start it's number 2 not letter.  If you want to change the stat to suit your hatred of Bruce surely 1 lose out of 1 is the one you want to use.  Some people really are sat there waiting for a loss so they can have a go at Bruce.
