The fact that his clumsy tackle shattered Seamus Coleman's leg wasn't a reason that he should have been held up as a pariah. Sometimes a shit tackle results in a serious injury, it doesn't make it the worst tackle in the world.

But the fact that this particular clumsy tackle didn't result in a serious injury also doesn't mean that it wasn't still reckless, pointless and a pretty obvious sending off.

It was just so unnecessary and given he was involved in the horrible tackle that injured Coleman surely he should be thinking twice before lunging in like that.

I know I'm asking for the impossible but why can't professional footballers just employ a bit of common sense every now and again?!

looks like he’s finally earning the money doing what he’s paid to do, which is get points on the board. Don’t really care how he does it.

Keep it going Steve.

The Coleman one is probably why he pulled out of it (if you watch he bends his leg into the contact and takes a lot of the impact out of it) but once you're off your feet like that there's nothing you can do to avoid the player and if you're coming head on with them like that it's almost always going to be red.

Not a red for me. Didn't think it at the time and didn't think it on the replay. It's a clumsy booking. Nothing more.

Never a red and Bruce's reaction was telling.  As was the fact that the fouled player got up and ran off as soon as the red card had been shown.  Very poor decision from a very poor referee.

I don't think this one will be overturned either. It's a shame he got sent off because I thought he had a decent game.

If Lansbury's was then I think this one will be as well.

Anyway let's not worry about it and play our reserve/U23 left back. This is how we progress our youth players.

Completely different tackles.  Lansbury's was a stupid, petulant trip.  Taylor's could have easily seriously injured the player.

As that fan on the Football on 5 said "I'm glad we stuck with Dave Bruce."

Not ideally in this game. And I think Clark would play ahead of Borg anyway. In which case you'd probably play Bree or one of our other right backs

He'll go three at the back to shore up a makeshift left wing back, which ironically will be the Ice man, who is a makeshift footballer.

You just know it.

Lansbury's was a wild kick from behind and I still think could be justified as a red.  You could see by Bruce's reaction both at the time and after the game that he thought it was a bad decision.
