Even with both Adomah and Kodjia on the pitch, we are still subjected to Bruce-ball even against one of the worst teams in the Championship so I'll be approaching October with hope rather than expectation.
Yes. With 3-4 wingers on the pitch we were still lumping it against the tallest team we've seen this season. Speedy wingplay would have created more chances and probably drawn a red card from Bolton (who were abject).

I don't think we lumped it at all. We play balls into Davis and due to the extras the centre halves were giving him, he was poor. I think he was fatigued too which is why his touch was off.

We haven't consistently played and failed to beat poor Championship sides week after week since 2010 though have we?

No, we have failed to beat anybody of any description with consistency since 2010.

Exactly, it is a method that has worked well in previous games and earned Davis a lot of praise both on this site and in the wider world. Why else was there all this talk of scouts going to watch him at Burton? He has now lost the element of surprise and has to learn to cope with physical defenders who know what to expect. He was second best yesterday and so replacing him was the right decision but I am hopeful that he will learn from it.

The recent upturn in results and to a certain extent performances has been very welcome.  I think if Bruce can get a decent haul from the next four games, then we will have turned a corner.  I remain to be convinced though, however eight points or more from the next four would go a long way

Agree with both what Ads and Chris said. Other teams know about him now and they obviously had a plan beforehand to heavily mark him yesterday. Like someone else said though, that game will have done him a lot of good and he'll learn a lot from it.

Gives Kodjia and Adomah extra space at least.

i thought our passing was a lot better yesterday - we're quite good now going sideways.

Under Lambert, we were practically Champions League quality at going sideways. :-)

I thought Bruce was toast a couple of weeks ago. I love being proved wrong where Villa are concerned and long may it continue.

If we lumped it I liked the lump from Elmohamady that set Kodjia free for that one on one.

To give him his due i said the minimum we should get from the September games was 4 wins and 2 draws and he got them. I have to admit i didn't think he would.
