They had one chance beyond the goal where they may have scored.

The free kick was well saved but bread and butter for the keeper. They created Jack all.

Absolutely. Their goal was shocking, but only in the literal sense. I was shocked they'd actually made it into our box instead of passing it another 30 times between the centre half and full backs.

And even then it turns out it's our player that's accidentally provided the killer through ball.

Presumably there'll be no complaints next time we get 65% possession and lose.

I don't disagree with that, but are we gonna hand 13 shots to the opposition each game in the hope they're as bad as Forest?

Norwich were marginally better and created a little more, but could have conceded another 6 for that marginal increase in adventure.

They didn't actually. 9 shots 3 on target.

Leicester won the title with minority possession however that's not sustainable success model. If the sustainable success model that of Chelsea manu and Man City over the last 20 years is reviewed it will show majority possession in their favour. However I do agree that how you use that possession is important  but generally teams that have the ball have more opportunity to do something with it.

As for yesterday whilst the win was not handsome  I never felt  that forest will
Equalise again.

That's the thing for me now, the fear has gone. I'm not too worried by the opposition because we actually look very organised defensively for the first time in a long, long while.

I agree with both of you. Silly goal apart, we kept them eaisly at arms length while second half none of the front four came back out for us.

I think John may have been employing sarcasm there

I knew that, but I'm incapable of letting that stop me.

Controlling the ball is important to be a dominant team. I don't mean pointless possession passing it around the back four, I mean constantly probing to find gaps and tire the opposition. That's what we should aspire to do. It has the dual benefit of the opposition not being able to get the ball and cause any damage either.

Play like that against good sides who don't pass the bark around in midfield aimlessly and the result will be very different.

The good news is there are hardly any good sides in this league, so it's probably not worth worrying too much about.

It's not all pointless possession though, yesterday for about 15 mins in the second half we barely went into their half. Only good keeping, desperate last ditch blocks and challenges by our defence and wank finishing meant we weren't 2-1 down. Once we scored they were never in it again but you can't afford spells like those when 1 up as even if it's only now and again, some teams will take advantage and we'll finish with 1 or 0 points instead of all 3, and playing catch up doesn't leave us massive wiggle room.
