Someone out of work that I've not seen mentioned - Paolo Sousa.

Did well at Swansea, less well at Leicester (but only had nine matches under Mandaric).

Since then has won league titles in Israel and Switzerland and two years of being pretty decent at Fiorentina.

No real blips apart from that nine match spell at Leicester seven years ago.

Viola fans hated his style of football, SB esque.

Who knows who's a good fit for us, I'd never heard of Thomas Christensen and he seems to be doing fine at Leeds.

If a manager hasn't turned it around after 42 games, it's generally a pretty safe bet that it's not going to happen. Under him we've had 4 runs.
W7 D3 L2
W0 D2 L7
W7 D0 L1
W2 D6 L5

That's his 42 league games and I see nothing that makes me think that over a 46 game season Bruce will promote us.

I nearly posted this a few games ago and in hindsight should have done...it's going to have to get even worse before it gets better if Bruce is to get the sack. Remarkably it seems he's doing his best to make it worse.

I said he needed a minimum of 12pts from 18 in September, and that didn't take into consideration that he would get 2pts from the first 2 games.

Barnsley (A)
Forest (H)
Burton (A)
Bolton (H)

I don't have much confidence that he'll get more than 7pts from those games.

I'm getting sick of his digs about criticism, regardless of whether he's aiming it at fans or media. 2 wins in the last 13 league games, 1 league win this season, we're meant to be challenging at the top of the table and look less capable of doing it now than when you arrived  6, 9, 10, 11 months ago. How dare anyone not be happy that you're doing an awful job and failing spectacularly. He's started to get on my tits now.

And why dont the media in the interviews given him a hard time based on this record. Its awful but he gets an easy ride
That's the point I was trying to make. Villa the biggest club to fall out of the top flight since we fell out in 87 are floundering with poor results and a manager who is also floundering. And yet nothing in the press / media.  It's like we don't exist. Except for the amount of live matches as we are still a massive draw to watch given the huge fan base we have ACROSS the UK.  Strange situation.   Possibly because Sky are on a winner paying very little for our live matches but still getting very big audiences.

2017 league form

LLDLLLLLWWWLWWWWDLLWLDDLLWDDD

29 games

9 wins
13 defeats
7 draws

1.17 points per game. I've left out his 13 games of 2016 as you could argue that wasn't his team. To have one of the biggest budgets in the league and turn in that run of results takes some doing.

Based on the above form the players that have come in havn't improved us. If anything we've got worse.

With Bruce I'd take 4 points.

If imagine he's got to win at either Barnsley or Burton to keep pace with RDM at this stage last year.

Think you are right. Wyness won't want to ruin their chummy friendship.

He probably ought to be aiming to do a bit better than the man who he replaced, who had exactly the same pro-rata record that he's got right now.

That's the point in making. If you're guessing when he may be sacked, then the next two league games are critical.

Sheff Utd, fresh out of the 3rd division win back to back away games, something Villa under Bruce look entirely incapable of.

Sheff Utd at least have some coherence in their side though, they know their jobs and get on with it. Same with the likes of Cardiff.

After millions spent we've not assembled a team, we've assembled a group of players that at various times have had a purple patch in the championship.

We're no nearer to working out what our best team looks like to where we were in August 2016.  We're like a rich kid at Christmas, loads of toys to play with but none that can keep our attention for more than 5 minutes.
