But what if "we keep trying to win", with the players we all clamour for playing in the positions we want, and we keep losing?

I know I'm getting ahead of myself, but I can't be the only person thinking about it.

It feels like we've gone too far down the road, where only a complete 180° turn will do. We need a long run of wins to repair the damage done. Draws against the likes of Bristol City aren't going to do it.

24 hours from now we might have some of the answers.

As I've said before, this is the really important bit.

If, after an hour, we're struggling tomorrow he needs to show that he can change the game and not just let it drift until it's time to make his premeditated subs.  For 2 games we've outclassed a Norwich team which looked lost and a wigan reserve team, that's not a criticism, it's a matter of fact, those are the sort of dick swinging performances we should see plenty of at home because we're the big name in this league, and I'm very glad that he seems to have realised he can approach games that way, but we can't, after 2 matches, assume that we'll be able to do that enough times to walk to promotion.  It's the ability to wear teams down and win through pressure that we also need to develop, they're the games where you win by 1 but always looked on top and didn't leave the fans shitting themselves.

For me Bruce is on borrowed time .........
1) Does he really have a plan?
2) Why keep signing players in same areas?
3) Too many favourites still
4) Having a go at the fans
Afraid if we lose tomorrow and Davis does not start then it should be bye bye
Of course Davis will start if fit.

Lots of questions still to be answered but this is an odd post on the back of two comprehensive victories

It's almost as if he's waiting for the next defeat. It won't be that Villa have lost, it will be that Bruce has lost. Sad but true.

If we play like we did last week, then we will have far too much for Bristol.

Didn't Bruce say that he should be fine only yesterday?

The mentality and approach are important.

If we revert to how we approached Cardiff and Reading, Bristol City are good enough to beat us and that would be unacceptable.

If we play an expansive game and lose narrowly I don't have an issue as long as he uses all the cards he has, which incidentally should not include Gabby and Hutton (unless absolutely necessary).

It's the frown and the wrinkled forehead that does it.

Really important we win tonight not just to get the away hex off early.

Looking at the fixtures we have in September and there's a real chance to get a good winning run going (similar to what Newcastle did last season after opening with two defeats).

4 of our 6 fixtures in September are at home and we play a lot of bottom half teams (Brentford, Burton, Bolton and Barnsley) all the Bsss.

Yep, but the BBC have decided to ignore that.

I wouldn't want him sacked based on losing tomorrow. After the last week, the manner of performance will be more telling. If we lose but we're trying to win, these things happen. Or so I vaguely remember.

But if we don't win when we've clearly had no intention of trying too hard to, that's different. Then, he's either learned nothing, or he's bottling it. In either case he might as well fuck off now.

Indeed. I think the majority are more than willing to give him more time not so much because we won last week but by the manner in which we won. That Jock Stein knew a thing or two about football.

Good interview on Sky just now. Interesting that John Terry drove to Colchester and went to dressing room and shook young players' hands too.
