I don't have kids, but objectively I can see how difficult it is to both convince your child to follow Villa and also to realise how disappointed they will be on a regular basis. When I started following Villa we had Gary Penrice up front, but we also had Tony Daley and David Platt in the side, and within a couple of years we were in cup quarter finals and slicing through opposition teams like they weren't there. Telling your child that if they stay the course it'll be worth it must be hard.

That said, i'm still irrationally annoyed if I'm in town and I see a kid in a Manchester City top, but that's just petty jealousy on my part.

It's just Football. Bringing parental ''strength and ethics'' in to the conversation is low life behaviour. I wouldn't apologize to anyone being a snide and calling my kids Bastards. Nobs lives up to his name perfectly, prick should be banned.

My response was directly after the comment of Olaftab, regarding our local support going to Manchester scum, if people actually decide to read it.

At no point was I directly referring to anyone's kids, if that has been misconstrued then that's unfortunate.

Then do the right thing and apologise for the slur you have inflicted upon someone else's son.

Your inability to just straight out accept your wrong and apologize, damns you.

Dave - enough is enough. He should be banned.

I did not call anyone's son a Jon Snow, I clearly said, for a right minded person, that any local child whom has chosen to support Manchester scum et al isn't welcome at VP.

The term bastard, I will retract for swine.

Then so be it, if parents aren't strong enough traditionally, ethically then I don't want the little bastards near VP.

Hope I'm never anywhere near you at Villa Park.

Nobs, you do seem conspicuous by your absence from the Small Heath thread. Any particular reason?

He's gone, can we all just leave it there now and draw a line under it.

Either way, I don't think Xia is a stupid man, despite some of his Twitter ramblings!   He'll want to protect his investment more than he will his pride. I just hope, if the worst happens, that he learns some valuable lessons.

I think that being from the Far East, it will be a 'loss of face', rather than the money that will drive him more.

Welcome, by the way.

Thanks Dave.

So, back on topic maybe......

Does today's side smack of a bit of desperation? I'm not sure, I'm really not sure, but a bad defeat today is going to make his position untenable.

Having said that, I'd rather today be the start of an unbeaten 30 game run.

I actually think he's got the right formation and is playing the players selected in the right positions. Has he picked the right players? I suppose we'll see but if this side is given the freedom to get forward (I'm talking about you, Hourihane and Onomah) then we should have more than enough to win today.
