He was paid alot of money to keep a side up containing a very good spine of a team.

Cheers Tim, you did nothing else.

He made me prouder than I'd been in half a decade when we did Liverpool. We didn't just win, we played them off the park.

Spurs away, Sunderland away, doing the Bitters twice in a week. Fun. Brief, but fun.

Sherwood was a C**T, an embarrassment.

Hardly.

The abuse and ridicule of Garde I refer to Aftab is that of the club hierarchy towards him.  He is not a fool but was made to look like one by the club who threw him into the snake pit of Aston Villa threshing about in the death throes of Lerner's dumping of the club.  To describe  Garde who had scant time, no money, no backing and no new players as being inferior to the present incumbent who has wasted millions and not had the team dominate a single one of the forty games for which he has been in charge is derisory.

And we did not dominate Rotherham.  They capitulated.
Brian completely agree.

I agree too on this.

Rotherham are the worst team I've ever seen at Villa Park in a league game. Absolutely dreadful.

I think you might be overegging the semi final - we deserved the win but we hardly played them off the park.

The Bitters twice in a week was hilarious. I watched the cup game with my brother in law, a bitter, and the last minute winner was beautiful!

The thing about Sherwood... he delivered one of the best memories as a Villa fan down at the semi final. We also played some pretty swashbuckling stuff, even for a limited time.

In a sea of awfulness, those brief and sadly fleeting moments stand out and shine brightly. A chancer and a charlatan for sure, but football is about enjoyment and we had a smidge of that which I'm grateful for.

It's why I find it hard to dislike him despite what a twat he is.

I think that goes for a lot of fans - reference his reception at QPR last December

And wasn't that still under RDM anyway?

I think we're the second worst.

For me, I hold Sherwood as the person second-most responsible for the relegation, so getting us to an FA Cup final where we were completely twatted doesn't, with hindsight, make up for it.

It doesn't make up for relegation but the QF and SF are 2 of the best days i've had following Villa.

Although with the QF, he was fortunate to be the first Villa manager since 1960 to get a home draw. We could easily have had days just as good, if not better, under previous managers with a bit more luck.

Considering the lower level of opposition and the fact we probably have the strongest squad in the league, then the way Bruce sets us up to play week in week out,  lack of any plan,  logic defying subs etc,  then it's Bruce for me.

And many of them also gave us great days. Doesn't alter how enjoyable the QF or SF were. Especially considering what we'd been putting up with previously to that under Lambert,
